The Kahili Huna
When you think of Hawaiian culture, vibrant landscapes, hula dancing may come to mind.
There is also an intriguing spiritual and mystical side to Hawai'i that is not often heard about: Huna.
What is Huna?
Huna (pronounced hoo-nah) is a Hawaiian word meaning "secret" or "hidden." It refers to an ancient esoteric system of spiritual teachings, philosophies, and practices passed down through oral tradition by the Kahuna who were spiritual leaders, healers, and the wise men of Hawaiian society.
The fundamental principle of Huna is based on the understanding and use of MANA, or life energy, which is a key element of Hawaiian spirituality. Mana is seen as an intangible force that flows through the entire universe, acting as a spiritual flow connecting individuals, nature and the universe as a whole.
I was particularly interested in Kahili Huna , which revealed to me a fascinating perspective on the Hawaiian worldview. In this approach, symbols and objects transcend their appearance, being charged with hidden meanings and powers. In our modern society, often marked by superficiality, the teachings of Kahili Huna invite us to go beyond appearances, to explore the depths and to respect the spiritual legacies that continue to shape us.
There are several core principles associated with the Huna teachings that offer a guide to living in balance with nature, oneself, and the greater spiritual forces at play (the seven principles of Huna, the three selves, the importance of the Aloha Spirit)
I n the contemporary world , Huna has become integrated into alternative healing and spiritual development practices. While ancient Hawaiian Kahuna applied these principles in private, sacred settings, Serge Kahili King has expanded their reach by disseminating them to a wider audience through books, workshops, and trainings over the past several decades. Huna offers tools for personal transformation, healing, manifestation, as well as connecting with nature and exploring the mysteries of the universe.

Huna is a rich and complex spiritual tradition that focuses on understanding and using mana, practicing the spirit of Aloha, cultivating inner harmony, and realizing that
Our thoughts and energies shape the world around us.
Whether you want to explore this philosophy from a personal growth perspective or simply are curious about its fascinating history, Huna offers a profound way to connect both with yourself and with the greater forces of the universe.
How do I use Huna in my accompaniments?
